Education is always in the public spotlight. There are many misunderstandings out there concerning what is happening in the classroom. While education in America may seem standardized, there are a wide variety of student experiences that happen across the country.   • 55,394,000: the total number of students enrolled in elementary and secondary schools
  • 3,632,000: the number of elementary and secondary teachers
  • That is 15.25 students per teacher on average nationwide
  • The average expenditure per student is $10, 615
  • $50,816: the average public school teacher salary
